BILL MOLLISON – PERMACULTURE A DESIGNER’S MANUAL

If their was one book on Permaculture Design that is a must have for any permaculture enthusiast or beginner it would be Bill Mollison’s, Permaculture: A Designer’s Manual. Bill Mollison is the Executive Director of the Permaculture Institute, which was established in 1979 to teach the practical design of sustainable soil, water, plant, and legal and economic systems to students worldwide. He coined the word permaculture.

Permaculture (permanent agriculture) is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of landscape and people providing their food, energy, shelter, and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way. Without permanent agriculture there is no possibility of a stable social order. Permaculture design is a system of assembling conceptual, material, and strategic components in a pattern which functions to benefit life in all its forms.

The philosophy behind permaculture is one of working with, rather than against, nature; of protracted and thoughtful observation rather than protracted and thoughtless action; of looking at systems in all their functions rather than asking only one yield of them; and of allowing systems to demonstrate their own evolutions.

This book covers design methodologies and strategies for both urban and rural applications, describing property design and natural farming techniques. Topics include:

  • design methods
  • understanding patterns in nature
  • climatic factors
  • water
  • soils
  • earthworks and their use in earth repair
  • techniques and design strategies for both urban and rural applications
  • the temperate climates
  • dry lands
  • cold climates
  • humid cool climates
  • humid tropics
  • trees and their energy transactions
  • aquaculture
  • waste management
  • energy efficient architecture
  • legal strategies and trusts

Gregg Braden – Divine Matrix

Gregg Braden’s work has been a huge catalyst for me to overcome psychosis and understand more about the web that connects us all. The book, Divine Matrix in peticular has been paradigm shifting. After reading this book I couldn’t wait to share it with the world as it broke my perception of their being a “space between” us, and proved that everything is completely connected. Here’s a brief summary.

New discoveries suggest that our world is the mirror of our beliefs. What we once believed is about to change! What would it mean to discover that the power to create joy, to heal suffering, and bring peace to nations lives inside of you?

  • Are the miracles that we see in the quantum world actually showing us our greatest possibilities rather than our scientific limits
  • Could the spontaneous healing of disease, an instant connection with everyone and everything, and even time travel, be our true heritage in the universe?

Between 1993 and 2000, a series of groundbreaking experiments revealed dramatic evidence of a web of energy that connects everything in our lives and our world—the Divine Matrix. From the healing of our bodies, to the success of our careers, relationships, and the peace between nations, this new evidence demonstrates that we each hold the power to speak directly to the force that links all of creation.
